In the process of organising multimodal and international container transport, SVT provides services for the organisation of sea freight, including:

  • transshipment of cargo in the port (stevedoring, accumulation and storage of cargo, survey services, etc;)
  • direct sea carriage of cargo, including search and chartering of tonnage

SVT, through the seaport of Chornomorsk, carries out such work:

  1. acceptance of cargo;
  2. operations with land vehicles;
  3. unloading to an open area or warehouse;
  4. storage and warehouse and container operations;
  5. moving cargo to the freight front;
  6. loading/unloading of ships;
  7. additional cargo operations (stowage, separation, securing, fumigation, quantity determination, etc.);
  8. preparation of relevant documentation (acceptance certificates, manifests, cargo plans, write-off orders, bills of lading, etc.);
  9. agency services for courts.

The port has stevedoring, surveying, chartering and other companies to perform all these types of work. SVT, by organising cargo transshipment in the port and its further sea transportation, acting as the cargo owner’s representative in the port and acting in its interests, aims to accurately coordinate the activities of all participants in the transshipment process.

When transporting goods by sea, we provide:

  1. organisation of the entire door-to-door delivery process;
  2. determination and calculation of the most optimal transport schemes;
  3. container transportations in all directions;
  4. compliance with delivery terms;
  5. insured liability of the carrier;
  6. tracking the container in transit and providing information on the location of the cargo;
  7. consolidation of small consignments from different shippers into one container for one consignee;
  8. disbanding cargo in a groupage container into separate consignments;
  9. redirecting cargo in transit.

SVT has entered into a full-scale agreement with the seaport of Chornomorsk, which enables priority transshipment of cargo sent from our warehouses with virtually no restrictions on the intensity of shipments during the day and with a guarantee of compliance with the highest ship-hour rates stipulated by the charter. If necessary, we can arrange a one-time loading of two or three breakbulk vessels and at least one regular container vessel.

SVT can act as both a charterer and a freight broker when organising sea freight. While the possibility of storing and transshipment of cargo in a port is mainly due to the availability of free space for one-time storage of this type of cargo, the chartering of ships is subject to the specific conditions of the global freight market.

The freight market is determined by the availability of tonnage in a given period of time, the location of vessels, the readiness of cargo for transportation, partly by fluctuations in fuel prices and is subject to other commercial pricing conditions.

It is also important that there are several cargo owner representatives in the freight market, which creates fierce competition when dealing with shipowners, often resulting in a rush for vessels that is not supported by cargo availability and ultimately raising the level of sea freight.

It should also be borne in mind that the freight rate at the initial stage of negotiations determines only the willingness of the parties to carry out the carriage of goods and is the idea of the freight rate, so it may change slightly in the course of preparations for the carriage of goods by sea until the vessel is fixed by issuing a charter and, accordingly, fixing the freight.
